Vaupés: Tepuy Morroco, Cananarí river and Apaporis river (6 days / 5 nights).
Located in the department of Vaupés, the Cananarí river that flows into the great Apaporís, hides small indigenous communities descendants of the Yuruparý Jaguar Men lineage, whose ancient traditions have been maintained for hundreds of years (Ethnic groups: Tucanos, Taibanos, Barasanos, Cubeos , Tatuyos, Desanos, Guananos and Taiwanos).
In this fascinating tour of rivers, rapids and tepuis, the natives also invite us to share their sacred ceremony or dance of the Yuruparý. In this Maloca (house of knowledge) ceremony, the dancers use their power elements such as feather crowns, canes, maracas, reeds and others, to sing and dance throughout the night under the purifying and strengthening effects of sacred plants. tobacco, coca and yajé.
Day 1. Bogotá - Mitú - Buenos Aires - Morroco.
Meeting with the group at the Bogotá Airport Air Bridge. Flight Bogotá – Mitú (Vaupés). Stopover at the airport and flight by small plane from Mitú to the indigenous village of Buenos Aires (40 min.) Landing on an improvised runway (gravel, sand and grass). Presentation before the army and before the traditional local authorities, greeting, reception in the community of Buenos Aires and lunch.
Walk to the port and boarding on a motor boat. Navigation along the Cananarí River upstream (approximately 2 hours) to the community of Morroco. Presentation, greeting and visit to the Maloca of the Community and meeting with the traditional expert. This Maloca is located in front of the spectacular Tepuis de Morroco, on the other side of the Cananarí.
Accommodation in a hammock with a mosquito net in La Maloca, traditional dinner based on fish, fariña and casabe (the latter two coming from yuca brava). Delivery of gifts for the community, night of words, mambe, tobacco, stories, myths and Taiban stories.
Day 2. Tepuy: Cerro Morroco.
Traditional breakfast in the community.
Walk to the port, boarding and sailing towards the other side of the river to the entrance port to the Tepuy Morroco, approximately 3 hour walk to the top of the Tepuy (each person carries their own backpack with camping equipment). Lunch on the way, visit to the Sardina waterfall, Window of the World, Taibanos Petroglyphs, caves, macaws, parrots, endemic fauna and flora.
Dinner and rest in the caves on the hill.
Day 3. Descent in the community and traditional festival.
Sunrise from the top of Tepuy, breakfast in the countryside and walk back to the port on the Cananarí (approximately 3 hours), boarding and crossing to the port of the community of Morroco, walk to Maloca and typical lunch.
Afternoon of traditional cultural interaction: visit to the chagras or orchards where the community plants cassava, pineapple, coca, tobacco and other plants that they use in their food and in their traditional sacred medicines. Participation in some of their rituals, sharing of uses and customs.
Dinner at the Maloca and participation in the Ancestral dance of the Yuruparý (the people of the community prepare to dialogue, sing, dance and pray to their Gods), they prepare their plumages, reeds (flutes) and sacred attire to enter the whole night the nocturnal trance of joy and spirituality: an energetic circle, where the Payé or Shaman, directs the party in interconnection with everything and everyone.
Day 4. Cananar and Apaporis Rivers: waterfalls and rapids.
Dawn of celebration in the maloca, breakfast, rest in the community and bathing in the river. Preparation of luggage and farewell to the community.
Boarding the Cananarí River downstream, navigation along the Apaporis River, lunch in the countryside and return to the community of Buenos Aires.
Accommodation, dinner and rest in the maloca.
Day 5. Return to Mitú by plane.
Breakfast in the community and waiting for the charter flight Buenos Aires – Mitú. Landing in Mitú, transfer to the hotel and lunch at the restaurant.
In the afternoon: hike to Cerro Urania, bird watching, landscape, fauna and flora in general.
Farewell dinner and rest at the hotel.
Day 6. Mitú - Bogotá.
Breakfast at the hotel and tour of Mitú: boardwalk, market square and port.
Lunch and transfer to the airport to take the flight to Bogotá.
