Activities

Day 1. Introduction to the jungle and traditional ancestral culture

Meeting with passengers

Route verification, reservation validation, delivery of jungle equipment, luggage review and recommendations.

Transfer to km 23 of the Leticia – Tarapacá road. Beginning of the hike through secondary forests of the upper Takana River basin (Calderón trail). Observation of fauna and flora in general, interpretation of ecosystems, identification of useful plants, casual visit to traditional indigenous malocas, lunch. Presentation of the maloca, conversation with the maloquero, sharing of the sacred rituals of coca (mámbe) and tobacco (ambil or rapé). Bath in the ravine, dinner and evening activity: hike in the forest and/or cultural conversations in the traditional maloca.

Rest in a hammock under a roof (improvised outdoor bathrooms).

Note: Activities for this day may change for passengers arriving in Leticia on the same day, depending on their flight itinerary.

Day 2: Highland jungles

Sunrise at the maloca, bath in the ravine and breakfast. Walk in primary forests of indigenous reservation, headwaters of the Arara ravine. Exploration of the area, observation of fauna and flora. Survival tips, lunch on the way, setting up camp. Dinner by the fire, night activity sensory walk and observation of life forms in the dark. Rest.

Day 3: Ticuna Community of Arara and river beaches

Dawn in the jungle, breakfast and start of the hike to the Tikuna community of Arara (on the Arara ravine, Amazon River basin). Casual tour of the village. Lunch at a natives' home. Spontaneous activities with the community, depending on the season, local customs and habits, hike and/or transfer by motorized canoe to the Amazon River (depending on water levels). Arrival at the beach and setting up camp in the afternoon. Dinner by the fire. Night hike, rest on mats with mosquito nets (improvised outdoor bathrooms).

Day 4: Lowland forests of Peru - Amazon River and Amacayacu

Sunrise, swim in the river and breakfast on the beach. Meeting with the motor boat (public transport at a pre-established time), navigation upstream on the Amazon River to the mouth of the Amacayacu River. Meeting with the local guide, transfer and navigation in a motorized canoe to the Nature Reserve. Accommodation in cabins (multiple accommodation, bed with mosquito net, shared outdoor bathrooms) and lunch. Swimming and relaxation activities (canoe or kayak, depending on water levels) in the ravine in the afternoon. Dinner, exploration of the ecosystem and night awareness (ravine and/or jungle). Rest.

Day 5: Day 5. Flooded forests and the Amazon River - Return to Leticia.

Breakfast at the house, walk to the port and boarding a motorized canoe to Cacao Island in Peru. Hike through flooded jungle forests and search for sloths. Sailing by motorized canoe to Puerto Nariño, searching for dolphins along the way. Visit to the lookout and lunch. 15:00 Sailing back to Leticia by public transport, downstream of the Amazon River. Arrival at the port at around 17:00, transfer to the hotel / airport, as appropriate.
